You will play a crucial role in ensuring that automation systems are installed, configured, and maintained to the highest standards, optimising building performance and providing value to our clients.

As a BMS Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical implementation of building automation projects, ensuring that all systems are functioning correctly and efficiently. You will collaborate with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure that projects are delivered on time and meet quality and budget expectations.

The Role

System Design and Integration:

  • Design, configure, and implement BMS solutions based on client specifications, including HVAC, lighting, fire safety, access control, and other critical building systems.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate BMS systems into new and existing buildings.
  • Ensure seamless integration with third-party systems and technologies (e.g., energy meters, security systems, etc.).
  • Create technical documentation such as system drawings, schematics, and operation manuals.

Programming and Configuration:

  • Program and configure BMS controllers (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, KNX, LonWorks) to ensure proper operation of all building systems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug BMS software and hardware issues, ensuring systems operate efficiently and within specified parameters.
  • Customise user interfaces and dashboards for easy monitoring and control of systems.

Commissioning and Testing:

  • Conduct on-site testing and commissioning of BMS installations, ensuring all components and systems function correctly according to design specifications.
  • Perform system validation and functional testing to ensure optimal system performance and energy efficiency.
  • Adjust and fine-tune system settings based on client needs and operational feedback.

Maintenance and Support:

  • Provide ongoing support for BMS systems, including system updates, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
  • Monitor building systems remotely, identify potential issues, and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Train clients' personnel on the operation and maintenance of the BMS systems.

Project Management and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices during system installation and operation.
  • Review and interpret project specifications, ensuring that deliverables meet client expectations and system requirements.
