Job description

Our client is a large Biopharmaceutical company based in the Midlands. Due to an expansion of the greater maintenance team, a Reliability Engineer is required to join the team to assist in minimising maintenance costs, enhancing the reliability of assets and processes by implementing advanced maintenance techniques and identifying and solving recurring equipment issues.

The Position

  • Support the calibration and maintenance leads to enhance maintenance and calibration programs to ensure repairs and services are delivered accurately and efficiently.
  • Continuously improve programs, including predictive maintenance strategies and spare parts optimisation.
  • Provide technical expertise to Maintenance, Operations, and Utilities teams on equipment reliability issues.
  • Create and refine operational and maintenance procedures to improve team efficiency and achieve operational excellence.
  • Identify required maintenance skill sets, develop training materials, conduct assessments, and deliver technical training.
  • Define, design, implement, and refine preventive and predictive maintenance processes and techniques.
  • Develop and execute an Asset Integrity program aligned with the organisation's reliability strategy.
  • Represent the company in external forums, engage with industry reliability experts, and implement best practices to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Establish, track, and analyse maintenance performance metrics.
  • Address deviations from targets and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Lead data-driven investigations (e.g., Six Sigma) to address reliability issues, reduce costs, and enhance asset maintenance effectiveness.
  • Simplify existing maintenance activities and integrate new plant equipment into maintenance and calibration programs.
  • Provide technical input for engineering projects to ensure installed equipment meets reliability, maintainability, and operability standards.
  • Execute minor projects and prepare equipment qualification protocols.
  • Actively participate in energy reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance complies with safety, environmental, engineering, and quality standards as well as internal policies.
  • Work closely with Quality, Operations, and other departments to address downtime issues, improve performance, and resolve quality concerns.
  • Participate in risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide technical guidance to Technicians to troubleshoot issues and enhance system operations.

The Person

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and automated systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS, e.g., SAP) and calibration tools.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and report preparation.
  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • English language fluency.
