Job description

Our client is an innovative, autonomous, manufacturing business. They are at the forefront of setting a new standard in sustainable construction here in Ireland. They have two world-class manufacturing sites just 40 minutes apart by road and are the largest manufacturer within their sector here in Ireland, supplying to the UK and Europe. The brand is recognised throughout the sector for its high quality, innovation and sustainability. They currently employ only 400 people and are looking for a Production Manager to join their operation in Leinster.

The Position

They are currently searching for a Production Manager, who will report to the Operations Manager and oversee production operations to optimize output, reduce costs, and achieve quality and efficiency goals, ensuring adherence to all safety and environmental policies.

Key responsibilities would include:

  • Manage a 24/7 continuous production operation, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, and optimized production output while controlling costs and achieving efficiency targets.
  • Lead and develop production teams to foster a cohesive, open, and effective working environment that supports continuous improvement and meets operational goals.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma principles to embed a culture of continuous improvement, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, identify root causes, and implement enhancements.
  • Act as a safety role model, ensuring adherence to legislation and championing elements of the safety management program to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Ensure all production team members are trained and competent, using training plans and performance reviews to develop skills, achieve flexibility, and align with strategic goals.
  • Schedule and organize daily production activities, manage resources, and coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering to minimize downtime during planned maintenance or shutdowns.
  • Proactively identify solutions to minimize downtime, control inventory, optimize costs, and maintain strong technical knowledge. Investigate and report incidents, prepare KPI reports, and support Shift Coordinators as needed.

The Person

  • Third-level qualification in a technical or continuous manufacturing discipline.
  • Over 5 years of experience managing shift operations in a high-volume, automated manufacturing environment, with a proven ability to deliver under pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience in Lean implementation and developing and executing continuous improvement plans.
  • Strong track record in team leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills, including industrial relations (IR) experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, enthusiasm, and proficiency in using computer systems to meet and exceed KPIs.
