Job description
This global leader in the development and manufacturing of injectable drug delivery systems and components plays a critical role in the global supply chain, with its Irish operations being a key contributor to its success.
A requirement exists for an Automation Engineer to assist the Operations department in enhancing the manufacturing process of products and developing the most efficient molding, tooling, and automation solutions to meet or exceed customer expectations.
This role will provide technical resources to ensure current and future projects align with both customer specifications and internal standards.
The Position
- Support new equipment, process, and product introduction projects.
- Develop and implement robust manufacturing strategies to meet customer needs and business objectives.
- Establish and lead project teams, defining deliverables, timelines, and costs, while maintaining regular reporting to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers to drive product development, manufacturing process innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee equipment suppliers, ensuring deliveries meet all required specifications, including cost, quality, and timelines.
- Ensure all new equipment complies with regulatory requirements, including validation, health, and safety standards.
- Oversee the installation of new equipment, providing training and facilitating smooth handover to operations.
- Collaborate with all internal departments to ensure new processes meet their needs and objectives.
The Person
- Must have an NFQ Level 7 Degree in Engineering or equivalent. A degree in Automation, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in engineering is essential.
- Must have extensive knowledge of PLCs and vision control systems, preferably with experience in Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs and Cognex Vision systems.
- A high level of knowledge in Barcode Scanning and RFID Automatic Identification and Data Capture in high-volume manufacturing is essential.
- Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Six Sigma methodologies, with proven experience in applying these tools.
- Must possess excellent data analysis skills and be familiar with statistical software, ideally Minitab.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and to manage and document work accurately and efficiently.
- Experience with Real-Time Monitoring Systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of WCM, JIT, SMED, and Kaizen principles is desirable.
