As a result of the continued growth of the business and the succession requirement following a recent promotion, the business now seeks to appoint a Strategy & Corporate Development Director to their rapidly expanding business. The central purpose of this role will be to be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and execution of strategic initiatives to drive long-term growth and competitive advantage for the business. This represents a unique opportunity to drive the strategy and corporate development agenda working closely with key stakeholders within the Senior Leadership Team, Executive Committee and the Board.

The Position

The Strategy & Corporate Development Director will lead and evolve the corporate strategy, ensuring the business knows what to focus on, and also how to build capability, and then communicate internally to achieve the strategic objectives. This role will also be responsible for driving business development, supporting organic growth as their manufacturing continues to expand, and leading out on the corporate development strategy including any potential M&A activity.

For the right candidate, this means they would join an ambitious and highly entrepreneurial business with the autonomy to lead the strategic agenda and to play an integral part in the success of an organisation who are looking to grow both domestically and internationally. Further to this, you would have significant visibility within the organisation, and this will create an opportunity for increased functional responsibility in the longer term in a business whose culture is defined by a "can do" attitude with a strong track record of promoting from within.

This role will ideally be based out of their Irish office on a hybrid basis:

Specific Responsibilities would include:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Lead strategic planning initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, business development, market research, and identification of new business growth opportunities.
  • Corporate Strategy Development:
    • Oversee the development and updates of the company's corporate strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall vision and mission.
    • Develop in-depth integrated strategy and financial plans for ExCo and Board review.
    • Lead the organisation's progress on strategic priorities to ensure alignment with long-term business objectives.
  • Business Development and Market Analysis:
    • Identify new business opportunities, markets, and potential corporate partnerships to drive revenue growth.
    • Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to inform financial and strategic decision-making.
  • Change Management:
    • Lead change management initiatives associated with large-scale corporate projects and organisational transformations.
    • Ensure changes are effectively communicated and implemented across the company to promote understanding and engagement at all levels.
  • Collaboration with Leadership:
    • Work closely with ExCo and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure the successful execution and implementation of strategic initiatives.

The Person

To be considered for this Strategy & Corporate Development Director, you will need to be an agile and commercially strategic leader capable of putting shape to the future of the business. Further to this, you would need to have a depth of corporate finance and/or Private Equity experience, ideally having run complex international transactions. You will also need to be highly versatile and capable of dealing with a diverse range of senior stakeholders and comfortable acting autonomously across all levels.

Specifically, we are looking for high achievers with the following experience and competencies:

  • Proven experience in strategic finance, corporate development, and M&A.
  • Strong leadership and partnership-building skills, with experience collaborating with public and private sector stakeholders.
  • Experience in market analysis, financial planning, and corporate strategy.
  • Knowledge of digital transformation strategies and tools.
  • Excellent communication and change management skills.
  • Ability to oversee complex projects and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficient in financial modelling and valuation techniques
  • You will hold a finance qualification either as a Qualified Accounting Professional (ACA/ACCA) or as a Chartered Finance Analyst (CFA) ideally.
